The Whitewater Gorge in Richmond Indiana has been called the “cradle of recorded jazz” — and yet, few, know about its amazing history. Legendary artists Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton,Gene Autry, Charley Patton, Hoagy Carmichael, and many others all recorded at the Starr-Gennett Studio, once located in the Whitewater Gorge (Richmond, Indiana). Other artists in this collection recorded at Starr-Gennett Studios in New York.
The purpose of this collection is to bring increased awareness to Richmond’s unique role in music history and promote its important legacy. More paintings are currently in process.
